Tips To Help You Motivate Yourself

Wednesday, September 23, 2015

Now if you have been reading my blog for a while you will know from my anxiety and my de-stress/wind down posts that I have my bad days and I'm not always 100% cheery nor motivated. Now I'm sure I'm not alone in this and along the way I have figured out a few tips and tricks to try and get myself back on track and re-motivate myself.

Sleep on it
This may sound like a silly one because after all, if you're meant to be motivating yourself why would you sleep? But sometimes you need to switch off, come back feeling fresh and reevaluate! More often than not, lack of sleep impacts highly on your mood levels so getting your batteries recharged may leave you thinking a lot more rationally and you feeling motivated enough to get back at things!

Listen to Music
Personally, I think this is my favourite. Music can be used for all sorts of things whether it is to relax and chill out or gear yourself up and motivate yourself! For years now if I have ever being going out whether it be a night out/event/etc I always put the music channels on the TV while I'm getting ready and this always perks me up and makes me feel energised! This works just as well if you're feeling a bit down and need to get up and get stuff done! Put on a few upbeat songs and in no time you'll be feeling so much more energetic! A few of my current favourites for this are Rachel Platten - Fight Song and Demi Lovato - Cool for the Summer.

Search for Inspiration
Sometimes your lack of motivation comes from lack of inspiration. In this case I suggest you go searching for it! This can be as simple as looking around your home, flicking through a magazine or looking on other websites/blogs. My favourite places to search for inspiration are both Pinterest and Bloglovin simply because there are so many amazing posts on there it's hard not to feel inspired!

Write it Down
There are times when you know exactly what you want to achieve but you're struggling due to lack of motivation and you're feeling down. A great way to try and get that motivation back is to write it down! Write exactly what you want to achieve, why and even write down how far you've come. This will show you why it's so important to you and what you're going to get at the end of it!

Speak to Someone
Whether it be someone you know personally or someone you know through your blog, sometimes speaking to someone it all it takes. A fresh outlook on things and even a bit of a confidence boost! Just like writing it down, sometimes speaking up and getting it off your chest works just as well! I always get my biggest motivation from the blog comments I get and also from Twitter Chats! There are often people who feel just the same as you do and sometimes that's all you need to know.

So I hope some of these tips help you like they do me! Please know that you are not alone in whatever you are going through and someone is always there to talk - even if it is just to get things off your chest!

I'll leave you with a question! What do you do to motivate yourself?
